highlights you for who you are!
Prom is a special event that marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. It's a time to celebrate achievements, friendships, and memories made throughout high school. One way to make your prom experience even more memorable is by incorporating your high school sport or passion into your prom session. This not only adds a personal touch to your photos but also celebrates a significant part of your high school journey.
Why Include Your High School Sport/Passion?
Your high school sport or passion is more than just an extracurricular activity. It's a representation of your hard work, dedication, and the friendships you've built along the way. Including it in your prom session allows you to showcase this important aspect of your life and adds depth to your prom photos.
Ideas for Incorporating Your High School Sports, Hobbies and Passions into your Prom Session:
Sports: Wear your team's jersey or uniform for a few photos to represent your involvement in sports.
Props: Bring along props related to your passion, such as musical instruments, art supplies, sports equipment, etc.
Action Shots: Capture action shots of you participating in your sport or passion, such as playing an instrument after a hike to a waterfall, practicing a dance routine, jumping on a wake board in your cap and gown, you name it I am up for it!
Location: Choose a location for your prom session that reflects your sport or passion, such as a swimming pool, sports field, art studio, music room, really anything goes to make your session uniquely you.
Group Photos: If your teammates or friends share your passion, consider including them in your prom session for group photos.
Incorporating your high school sport or passion into your prom session is a wonderful way to celebrate your achievements and showcase a significant part of your high school journey. Whether you're a star athlete, a talented musician, or passionate about any other activity, adding this personal touch to your prom photos will make them truly unforgettable and not only captures you in that fancy outfit for prom but also captures what makes you uniquely you!
As always, your family is welcome to join for a portion of the prom session at no extra cost! Wouldn’t it be amazing to have those family photos from years ago updated!

Fraser Valley graduates
it’s prom season!
So many inquiries lately asking about Prom sessions so I figured I would answer some of your most asked questions in a quick blog post. If you are wanting to book now is the time!
When is the best time to book my Prom/Graduation Session?
As soon as you know you want Prom photos you should book! My May/June schedule fills up very quickly and I typically only book one graduate per prom date due to timing and logistics, unless of course you are booking as a group then I can of course accommodate more graduates at one time. Another option is to book your Prom session on a separate date from your actual prom date, this allows for us to spend more time together and pick a date that works for you and your families schedule.
Who can I bring to my prom session?
Your prom session is for you and your plus one, whether that be your date or your bestie, and of course your immediate family members, such as your parents/caregivers/guardian, siblings and grandparents. I will spend the first part of your session capturing you with your family and those that love you, and the remainder of your session will be used capturing you and your plus one.
When do i get to see my photos?
I know how important it is to have your Prom/Graduation Photos as soon as possible to be able to share with your friends and family so I always post a few photos within a few hours of our session, sometimes it is later that evening, but always withing 24 hours of your session. The remainder of your photos will be ready for you within one week of your Prom/ Graduation session.
What time of day is best for photos?
Golden Hour, an hour before sunset, is typically the best time of day for photos. That being said, as long as we have a bit of shade to work with, we can do photos any time of the day, and there is something to be said about that mid day sunshine and the beauty it brings out!

Prom photos are important because they capture a significant moment in your life and provide a tangible memory of this special occasion- it is an opportunity to celebrate you, your accomplishments and just how amazing you look on your special day!
Bonus it just may replace that awkward childhood photo your parents and grandparents have on their walls!
I met up with Kyla and her family at Pitt Lake a couple of weeks before her actual prom day. This gave her family an opportunity to relish in her amazing accomplishments and celebrate her. We took photos together as a family, including her grandparents and then some with just Kyla. Then her dad, who was her soccer coach throughout her childhood, insisted on some soccer photos. This amazing girl whipped off her heals and started volleying the ball back and forth with her dad like there was nothing to it! That was a first for me but I am so glad I was able to capture that special moment for them.
I love incorporating items that capture a student's personality and interests. I am always open to you choosing a hobby, sport, or other activity to include in your prom and graduation photos, this is such an amazing way to showcase who you are and what you have accomplished during your high school years. I have captured many things to date but most memorable was a wakeboarding session in a graduation gown and hiking to a waterfall to play violin in a prom dress!

It’s that time of year again, Spring is in the air and Prom season is about to be in full swing and I cannot wait to capture this milestone for this years graduates. Prom and Graduation is a milestone event in many teenagers' lives, it marks the end of their high school years and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. It is an opportunity for them to celebrate their accomplishments and look forward to their future. I met Jasmine’s parents briefly over a decade ago through a work friend and remember meeting Jasmine as a baby, so it was quite a lovely surprise to have her mom reach out to me so many years later to capture this huge milestone in her daughters life. I met up with them a few hours before Jasmine had to leave for prom to capture her all dressed up and of course to capture some memorable family photos on their property in Mission, BC.
I always encourage my grads and their parents/guardians that having Prom photos with each other is so important, it is definitely not just about the graduate, if you show up to your child’s prom photos, expect to be in at least a few of the shots!
Here are some reasons why:
Family Memories: Prom is a significant event in a teenager's life, and including parents/guardians in prom photos helps create family memories. Parents and Guardians are often the ones who supported their child through their high school years, and taking photos together can be a way to celebrate this special moment.
Capturing Special Moments: Prom photos can capture special moments that might not be captured otherwise. Parents often hold sentimental value to these moments and treasure them for years to come and having a tangible photo to commemorate their baby growing up and graduating is a moment that will be treasured for years to come.
Showing Gratitude: Prom is often an expensive event, and parents and guardians often bear the brunt of this cost and including your family in your prom photos is a way to suck it up and show them how much you love and appreciate their support during your teenage years. I promise it will be far less painful than watching your parents/guardians and grandparents try and work their cell phone to get the shot!
Overall, prom photos with your family can be an important way to create memories, capture special moments, show gratitude, and continue traditions. These photos will be cherished by both the graduate and their family for years to come.
As we were wrapping up our prom photo session Jasmine’s school bus drove by. It was such a bittersweet moment to end our session on as it marked the end of a chapter in her life. I was choking back the tears as I am sure her parents were too. Congratulations Jasmine! Wishing you all the best in your future!

The end of the school year may look a bit different again for this years graduating class, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate this special milestone in your life with amazing portraits of you! Let's Chat and book your Prom session today!
Prom 2020 may have had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 but Emma and Victor refused to let that get to them; we celebrated anyways!
-Chilliwack Graduation and Prom Photos during the Pandemic-
I met Emma’s mom in grade 4 at Cultus Lake Elementary. She is one of my longest term friendships and her wedding was the second wedding I ever photographed! So needless to say I have watched this young lady grow up over the years and I couldn’t be prouder of her and all of her accomplishments. Emma is hands down the smartest teenager I have ever met. She always has a book or 5 with her and has taken school way more serious than her mom or I ever did! Emma (and Vince) both received the Exemplary Scholar Award (green cord) - outstanding achievement from gr10 to gr12 but Emma ALSO received the Latin Honor Summa Cum Laude (gold cord) which is the top 5% of her graduating class! I couldn’t be prouder of her and now she is off to UBC to study all of the things… she told me, it is definitely science related, but I am old and my brain doesn’t work like hers anymore! The bonus of knowing her whole family is that I get to watch her journey into adult hood and celebrate in all her achievements.
Emma was raised in Cultus Lake, just like her mom and I, so it was suiting to have her prom photos done at the lake she has enjoyed since she was a little girl. We started off her session by dropping in at her grandparents house for photos with them and of course for Grandma to see her in her dress! From there we travelled up the road to a family friends most amazing property up in Colombia Valley and then headed down to Cultus Lake for the most stunning sunset and twirl party- since you know they cancelled Prom.
Emma and Vincent I wish you all the best in your university journey’s and I will definitely be at your next graduation- let’s hope that one doesn’t have to be virtual as well!
Despite being in the midst of a pandemic and all graduation festivities being cancelled Emma’s mom made sure she was celebrated and loved on to the fullest. She planned a whole day with their family, including hiring me to ensure it was all captured. Want to do the same for your graduate? Let’s Chat!

Grads I am so beyond proud of all of you. This is only the ending of the FIRST chapter of your grand adventure called life. While this chapter may not have ended the way you and your families envisioned, it’s just the first chapter of so many amazing chapters to come. This does not define your whole story. There is nothing any of us can do right now, Covid-19 has impacted us all. All we can do is just accept it, and make the most of what we can do. Celebrating you. Put on that Dress, put on that Suit and celebrate with those that you love… the ones that have always been there, for all your bumps and falls and all your successes and shining moments. This is your year.

My baby boy and his girl. Graduated! I can hardly believe it. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was walking you into your first day of kindergarten and here you are now, all grown up and ready to take on the world. My mama heart is so full of love and I am so proud of you both. Watching your relationship and more importantly your friendship develop and grow has been an honour.
On the eve of their graduation we drove out to my childhood stomping grounds and waited out the rain storm that came out of nowhere, as a result we were thanked with epic and moody skies! It totally suited the emotions of this time in their lives....
I am so excited to see what the future holds for you both.

PROM SEASON... one of my favourite times of the year. In Abbotsford, BC Willband Creek Park is one of my favorite locations for prom photos and to celebrate with families this huge milestone. There is just something about Prom that makes me all giddy inside and I wish I could photograph all the seniors graduating but that is just not feasible! Sydney's mom booked me at the beginning of her grade twelve year to make sure that this moment was captured not only for Sydney, but for them as a family. We spent some time together right before she was off to prom, and it was pefection. Congratulations Sydney, I wish you nothing but the best for your future.

Chris' mom and I grew up together in Chilliwack, BC, in fact we attended kindergarten together! We were silly little kids and rowdy teenagers together. We've grown apart and close together numerous times over the last 35 years but no matter what she is the one friend that I know I can always count on. I have watched her and her husband raise Chris to be the upstanding young man that he is; an outstanding athlete, a hard worker, and a good role model. He is just an all around awesome young man to be around. To say I was totally honoured when she asked me to do his formal portraits with his girlfriend Alexa on his prom day is an understatement!. Chris and Alexa were total and complete rock stars during their session and didn't complain once despite the heat, the sun and the mosquitoes! I had so much fun with you both and am so proud of all your accomplishments Chris. So excited to see where you go from here.
