Fall Engagement Session at Harrison Lake, BC | Fraser Valley Photographer
Late fall in Harrison Hot Springs has a quiet kind of magic. The crowds thin out, the air cools, and the landscape settles into rich colour and soft light. This engagement session took place along the shores of Harrison Lake, surrounded by golden leaves, lush forest, and mountain views that felt timeless and calm. As the sun dipped behind the mountains, warm light spilled across the lake, reflecting off the water and wrapping everything in soft tones. The forest was alive with late fall colour, deep greens mixed with yellows and golds, creating a setting that felt both intimate and cinematic. This particular spot along the lake offers the best of everything — towering trees, open shoreline, and quiet forest paths all within a short walk. It allows couples to move naturally through their session, letting the landscape become part of their story rather than just a backdrop. Harrison Hot Springs is known for its natural beauty, and it’s easy to see why it continues to be a favourite for engagement sessions in the Fraser Valley. Whether you’re visiting for a weekend getaway or planning photos here, the area offers endless inspiration. You can explore more about the Harrison River Valley through their official tourism site. This session felt like the perfect prelude to what’s coming next. I’ll be photographing their wedding this fall at the Grand Hall in District 1881, in Chilliwack, BC and the moody fall tones of this engagement session already hint at the atmosphere their wedding day will hold. Late fall engagement sessions are about slowing down and leaning into the season. The colours are deeper, the light is softer, and everything feels a little more intentional. It’s one of my favourite times of year to photograph couples, especially in places as naturally beautiful as Harrison Lake.

PITT LAKE | JEFF and JAI | CHILLIWACK ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER
A gorgeous evening spent with Jai and Jeff exploring the gorgeous Coquitlam Mountain range and Pitt Lake in Maple Ridge, BC.
Jai and Jeff were guests at a wedding I photographed at Eighteen Pastures last summer for friends of theirs. I was absolutely thrilled when they approached me to photograph their upcoming wedding. They were up to anything for their engagement photos so after giving them some options they chose Pitt Lake as they had never been there before and they fell instantly in love. How can you not with those beautiful mountain ranges!

Chilliwack Engagement Photographer | Brandon + Rebecka | Chilliwack Lake, BC
Rainy, Snow and Sleet… just another day in the Fraser Valley’s Pacific North West.
A few months back I met with Brandon and Rebecka to chat about their upcoming wedding at Whonnock Lake. I remember admiring their attention to details- the ones most important to them- the assurance that everyone at their wedding be honoured and respected for who they were. I assured them, that I would never have it any other way, and after playing some hot wheels with their little guy and finishing up our donuts from the Harvest Cafe we were well on our way to planning the most epic engagement session!
Fast forward to the days leading up to their engagement session, it rained… and rained and got colder and colder. We talked about postponing but looking at the forecast it didn’t look like it would be getting better anytime soon, and as life in the PNW goes… the show must go on!

Chilliwack Engagment Photographer | A Surprise Proposal | Jim + Val
An Engagement Session at Cultus Lake, BC after a surprise proposal.
It’s hard to put into words all the emotions I’ve gone through holding onto the news that one of my oldest and dearest friends was going to propose to his girl. He’s always been my biggest supporter and has always had my back- like 32 yrs of having someone’s back is a LONG time.
We often talk about the good ol’ days of being rowdy teenagers but honestly what I cherish most is the loyalty, the positivity, the strength his words give and the love of a solid friendship. Secret meetings and phone calls and parking lot dodges as we worked towards keeping this marriage proposal a surprise will forever make me laugh. I was beyond honoured to be asked to witness one of my besties profess his love and commitment to his forever this afternoon.
Jimmy & Val I wish you both a lifetime of happiness, laughter and SLAYER. Always SLAYER.
So after some bush whacking and some quick engagement pictures we headed to the pub together for a drink. The old locals must have been laughing at us as we tried over and over to get an in focus picture of the three of us in the dimly lit pub. It's not perfect but its the epitomy of joy to me.

GAGAN & NICK
PITT MEADOWS ENGAGEMENT SESSION
It’s been five years since I first met Gagan when was my practicum student at my day job. I loved her personality immediately and I was beyond thrilled when she graduated and was hired on full time. Over the past five years I have watched not only her confidence grow but her love for Nick. Her whole face lights up when she talks about him and they are absolutely perfect together. Long before Nick even proposed to her, Gagan would always comment on my wedding photography and excitedly tell me that when the time comes she would want me to take her engagement pictures. So I was beyond thrilled when Nick finally proposed to her in NEW YORK on top of the Rock in June- he even asked a stranger to make sure to get a picture! The cutest thing ever!
As soon as Gagan came back to work she started talking with me about doing their engagement pictures- she had only one request- MOUNTAIN views! Not a problem I told her as we brainstormed different locations knowing that Pitt Lake was the perfect location to capture her vision. We planned it all out, just to come to the date and have to cancel because of all the smoke from the wild fires this summer- you could not see a few feet in front of you, let alone our gorgeous mountains! We decided to reschedule again for September.
September came and so did the Fall rains- torrential rains. Gagan and I messaged over and over all morning hoping that the rains would let up but the rains didn’t let up- in fact it rained harder and harder so in the end we decided to reschedule again. Finally we decided to plan for a weekday instead of waiting for the weather to cooperate for us on the weekend and boy did it pay off! We had so much fun exploring the gorgeousness that is Pitt Lake and the surrounding area for their engagement pictures.
Congratulations Gagan and Nick~ I am so excited for your upcoming wedding this Spring where I get to attend as a friend and celebrate your love for each other.
