Alex and Nadia’s June wedding was as unique as the couple themselves, complete with an epic windstorm, moody overcast skies, and their two adorable dachshunds. As the wind whipped through the valley, it added a dramatic flair to the day, ruffling hair and dresses, sweeping through the wildflower fields, and creating a cinematic atmosphere that made every photo feel alive. The Fraser River Lodge, nestled against the stunning backdrop of the mountains and the river, was the perfect stage for this one of a kind celebration.
The morning began with quiet excitement as the bride and groom prepared for their day surrounded by close family and friends. Sunlight poured through the lodge windows, highlighting the soft laughter, gentle hugs, and the anticipation of the moments ahead. These early hours are some of my favourite to capture, the small gestures, the joyful nerves, and the tender connections that set the tone for the rest of the day.

Surrounded by friends and family who had traveled from near and far, this wedding was a true celebration of love and togetherness. Despite the unpredictable June weather, the warmth and joy shared by everyone kept the spirit of the day glowing. It was a beautiful reminder that, even in the face of life’s unpredictability, love always finds a way to shine.

The day featured a wild windstorm and moody overcast skies, creating a cinematic atmosphere for the wedding. Hair and dresses whipped in the breeze, the wind swept through vibrant wildflower fields, and every photo felt alive with movement and emotion. When Em and Ian decided to get married they knew they wanted something truly special—something intimate, meaningful, and filled with joy. Surrounded by a small group of family and friends, their day was a perfect blend of laughter, love, and unique moments that captured the essence of their relationship. Despite the rain, nothing could dampen the excitement and beauty of their wedding day.
Em and Ian’s Sweet Ice Cream Stop at Banters Before the Wedding Ceremony
The morning of their wedding was filled with quiet excitement as they prepared for the day ahead. Before heading to The Distillery Venue, Em and Ian made a sweet detour to Banter’s Ice Cream. Surrounded by the quaint charm of this beloved local Ice Cream Shop, the couple laughed as they attempted to enjoy their ice cream together, without spilling. Despite the rain they embraced every moment together and their carefree smiles spoke volumes about the genuine connection they share.
The Distillery Venue: A Beautiful Setting for Their Vows
As the rain drummed on the roof of The Distillery Venue, they stood together before their closest family and friends. In this intimate setting, they exchanged heartfelt vows expressing promises of love and support to each other. The emotions of the day were felt by everyone, as they made their commitment to each other, their families and friends smiles as bright as the love these two share.
Rainy Wedding Portraits: Capturing Love
Even though the rain was steady on and off through out the day, we embraced the wet weather and took portraits outside. RIP Umbrellas, I lost 3 that day due to the wind! Later in the evening with the help of some off-camera flash techniques, I was able to create some dramatic images that highlighted the beauty of what we endearingly now refer to as ‘atmospheric rain’. However, the rain only added to the celebration of Em and Ian, making their portraits even more memorable.
A Night of Laughter and Dancing: Celebrating Love with Friends and Family
After their heartfelt vows, it was time to celebrate. The couple invited their guests to share in a casual yet delicious meal of appetizers, pizza and the most amazingly delicious pastries catered from The Table Bistro in Abbotsford, BC. The laughter and chatter filled the air as everyone enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere, savoring the flavors of a wedding celebration that was both meaningful and fun. The night ended with plenty of laughter, dancing, and love on the dance floor. Em and Ian and their guests embraced the joy of the evening, creating unforgettable memories of shared moments and celebrations. Their wedding party and close friends were even up to creating a Vogue style group photo which led to much laughter as they all tried to give their best vogue inspired pose! It was the perfect end to an intimate and unforgettable wedding day at The Distillery Venue.

The Chilliwack Golf Club is an amazing venue in the heart of Chilliwack, BC. It features mountain views in addition to the beautiful landscaped grounds of the golf course From the gorgeous yet simple outdoor ceremony site to the spacious canex pavilion that can fit 300+ guests it boasts not only the full coverage feel of an indoor wedding but with removable walls it truly makes it the most unique venue of its kind in the area. Looking for a smaller and more intimate, indoor space (for 50 to 120 guests), their Mt. I adore this little venue. Whether you choose to have an outdoor ceremony on the front lawn or the indoor setting, they are both perfect. The wedding coordinator on staff is phenomenal, and my experience is that they go above and beyond to ensure your wedding day is exactly how you envisioned it.
The facilities at The Falls Golf Club are designed to make your wedding day as seamless and memorable as possible. The venue offers a pop-up bridal room for pre-ceremony photos and privacy, an indoor banquet room for off-season ceremonies and receptions for up to 100 guests, and a new Pavilion Reception Hall with a capacity for up to 160 guests. Outdoor ceremony space is also available for up to 160 guests, allowing you to exchange vows surrounded by the beauty of nature.
One of the highlights of hosting your wedding at The Falls Golf Club is the exceptional menu offerings. The venue takes pride in offering house-made, locally sourced menus, and welcomes creativity and custom requests. Whether you choose a buffet-style dinner or a plated meal, your guests are sure to be delighted by the delicious cuisine.
The Falls Golf Club is gorgeous in itself, but the breathtaking views of the Fraser Valley at sunset really cannot be beaten. The venue's location, nestled into the mountainside, provides a stunning backdrop for your wedding photos that will truly capture the magic of your special day.
3. Estate 248 | @ Poppy Estate Golf Course in Langley
Estate 248 is a romantic wedding venue nestled in the corner of the Poppy Estate Golf Course near Langley, BC. The venue is nestled on an authentic Fraser Valley homestead and although you will feel like you are in the country, it is only minutes from all amenities. The property has rustic barns, a farmhouse bridal suite, beautiful flower gardens and is surrounded by rustic split rail fences and can host up to 130 guests.
The venue offers a blend of rustic beauty and modern amenities, making it a popular choice for couples looking for a unique and memorable wedding experience. 4. Mount Lehman Meadows | Abbotsford
Mt. Lehman Meadows is a small, family run, organic farm in Abbotsford, BC. It is one of my favourite venues as it has so many unique qualities. Eva the owner, is a total sweetheart, and she truly goes out of her way to make sure your day runs as smoothly as possible. This venue can hold up to 150 guests, but you must include your vendors in this count. The outdoor ceremony site is beautiful as are the grounds surrounding the barn. My favourite though is the actual backyard feels of the grounds. It is set up to feel like you are hanging out in your own backyard playing games, you know, with the neighbors chickens hopping the fence to come and check out what is going on! From the chickens to the horses to the amazing barn for your reception this quaint venue has it all.
5. Loft Country | Langley

The whole space is magical, from the kissing Koi fish to the outdoor fire pits. It's definitely one of the Fraser Valley's gem wedding venues.

Finding a location for rehearsal dinners can be hard, so we are here to help! My favorite time of year has to be late June, as the wildflower field is absolutely stunning! Regardless of the time of year or the weather, you cannot go wrong with this gorgeous wedding venue. I am still holding out for a wedding day at Fraser River Lodge where it is not raining though!

There is a huge variety of Old Western Style buildings, that will bring you right back to the old country western movies that are always on at your parents house! No?! Really? Must just be my parents house then! While many choose the gorgeous lawns overlooking the pastures, the street that runs down the row of old western buildings makes for a super fun and rustic wedding ceremony site as well!

Location, Location- only 10 minutes from the Hwy 1 Exit at 264th Ave. Even your Grandparents won’t get lost at this easy to find Wedding location. There is very little traffic once getting off of the highway and there is ample parking at the Venue, which is amazing for us country folk that still freak out a little bit when trying to parallel park!
Venue Size- this venue is huge and spacious. From he sprawling fields and grass lawns for your little nieces and nephews to run down and get their wedding outfits covered in grass stains much to your siblings dismay, to the Ziplines, Bumper cars and AIR PILLOW- need I say more?! In addition to this there is many covered outdoor areas for your guests to mingle and get out of the hot sun. The indoor wedding reception area is large and spacious as well.
The Gorgeous Barns and Pastures- if barns make your heart giddy, this is the place for you. There is multiple barns for your photography backdrops as well as the pastures with the big open sky to change up the scene as well.

The Chilliwack Golf Club is an amazing venue in the heart of Chilliwack, BC. It features mountain views in addition to the beautiful landscaped grounds of the golf course From the gorgeous yet simple outdoor ceremony site to the spacious Canex Pavilion that boasts not only the full coverage feel of an indoor wedding but with removable walls, it truly makes it the most unique venue of its kind in the area.
The Chilliwack Golf Club offers an all-inclusive wedding package for you and has a dedicated onsite wedding coordinator to ensure your wedding day is memorable and ensures everything runs smoothly. The staff are amazing, professional and my brides have stated that they pay attention to every detail.
One of my favourite things about this wedding venue is how it is centrally located between Chilliwack and Abbotsford. As a result, if you are wanting your wedding portraits done outside of the golf course area, there are so many nearby locations to go to.

Swaneset is a grand fairy tale wedding venue nestled along the coastal mountains in Pitt Meadows, BC. Whether you choose to say your vows indoors or outdoors, you will not be disappointed. The floor to ceiling windows overlooking the golf course and the lush green surroundings truly make it the most picturesque location for your reception, and is one of my favourite locations for wedding photos.
Fall at Swaneset is one of my absolute favourite wedding venues to photograph outdoors, the colours are absolutely gorgeous on the garden terrace.
After H & D said their heartfelt vows in front of not only their closest friends and family, but also their sweet fur baby we drove 10 minutes down the road to take their wedding portraits with the gorgeous cascade mountain range. Afterwards, we took some quick wedding party portraits on the golf course and then headed to the back of the property for some champagne shenanigans.
